Had a really good time at my grandparents yesterday. I came over and gave Oma her 80th birthday present which was a really soft-materialed shawl. She really liked it. I also stopped over at The Cheesecake Shop and got half a black forest cake and they (Omi and Opa) really liked that. We sat around and watched the rest of Dancing in the Rain on the TV. That movie is so awesome!

My grandparents must have been in an especially good mood as they gave me their blender and their coffee machine that they apparently don't use that much! The blender is glass which could possibly be a bad thing for me as on the first day of living in the sharehouse at Kuraby I broke the blender there! It has the ability to chop ice! The coffee maker also comes with all their ground coffee and the filter papers!!!! SO AWESOME!

After that I went and saw Jarod when he got home and would you believe his room was even more messy than usual!!! Absolutely atrocious! So as always happens, I got really uncomfortable and started to clean. We ended up getting three giant bags of rubbish out of his room! And about the same size in dirty washing!

The chest of stackable plastic drawers that I got him a couple of weeks ago were also still empty! I couldn't believe that he hadn't started going through all his computer stuff and sorting it out! Because of helping him clean again, Jarod shouted me to dinner at AfK (Away from Keyboard) Cafe. He also got me another five hours on my credit there! Thanks Jarod!

Before we left, I got Jarod to empty one of his packing boxes and sort through it and toss stuff out. I plan on getting him to do another one when I visit next. I know you must be thinking that its not a very nice thing to do to make him clean, but really, if you saw the pig-sty he lives in, you would understand!

Pretty soon I think he'll be able to easily get a new desk and easily install it without having to move anything!

Jarod also very kindly offered me his TV for when I move out! Thanks again Jarod.

All in all, I had a very nice Saturday.

Today I'm going to clean my room and the lounge room as its started to look feral again. I'm so glad I bought a good vacuum cleaner!

E.

Today and yesterday I had SharePoint training at ITTS in Spring Hill. I was the only one in the class! There was going to be another guy, but there was an oil spill in Algester or something so he couldn't make it. There only being me, I could do the class at my own pace which meant that I finished an hour early on Thursday with two more topics finished than scheduled. Today I finished at 2pm and even go to cover stuff about Portal!

The lady that taught the class, Carla, was so VERY good. Big thank you to Carla, she's awesome!!!

Both days were catered so I had a Caesar Salad at Sofitel on Thursday and a Cabonara at this cafe called Halo... though I wouldn't recommend them. Not very good service.
--------

Another topic entirely; I am absolutely sick of crowy walking round the house in his boxers! Boxers are technically underwear so I don't see why he can't be more decent and cover up. I don't want to see his pot belly and his hairy chest! DO NOT WANT!!!! I'm reluctant to talk to him about it though. He always gets pissy when I want him to do something.

--------

Tomorrow is my Grandmother's 80th Birthday! So I'll be visiting to give her, her present. I hope she likes it! She should as its a scarf of sorts and its warm and it purple!

Well anyway, absolutely nakered. Going to bed. Goodnight to everyone in cybersapce. Actually, WHO THE HELL SAYS CYBERSPACE ANYMORE?

Everyone is really nice, I'm back in my field and I'm working in the same building as my mum which means I get to see her more often!

This job really feels as if I've come home. I'm with people who know what I'm talking about, I can research web stuff and it is actually classed as work, I'm going on all this training to learn more stuff about how to do my job -- its fantastic! I am SO happy!

Graduate training starts the week after next -- should be interesting learning all the policies and getting to know the other graduates.

Dinner with Ali and musings

    <lj:music>Hope ~ Thirsty Merc</lj:music>

Had dinner with Ali tonight after so long not seeing her. We went to Bubbles in Brisbane city and had lattes and pasta dishes. Afterward we went to Gelatisimo (correct spelling?) and had Gelati; Yum! It was really good to see you Ali! You're looking as gorgeous as ever!

Ok! On with the musings...

During the QCS test (Queensland Core Skills Test) for the writing section, we had material on the moon, creation, etc. There may have been others but that has what's stuck with me. I wrote a creation myth.

It started out with big bang and the creation of our solar system - mainly focusing on the sun and earth. and how the earth (Gaia) became prosperous with life and then we shoot to another distant planet that is observing this and being sulky and jealous. I didn't describe like this as such, but its along the same lines. This planet saw all the life that was on Gaia and how Gaia was so happy and wanted the same thing. It wanted to house such wondrous life.

From this point my memory is a bit hazy. I know something happens -- like an explosion or something and the planet gets what it wanted. Or it somehow managed to get a light source close enough to it....

Actually it was probably that the planet wasn't a planet but a star and the other themes of the writing test were death, sacrifice and rebirth. So the sun wanted to nurture life, but couldn't so in order to create more life it sacrificed itself by exploding/imploding (not sure on the science). This somehow created a new solar system and a earth-like planet from which new life sprung.

I guess I somewhat used the Egyptian creation myth as my basis with the sun being all alone -- the only point of life in a sea of blackness. Then (eventually) life springs from that lone point and creates the world.

I told my mother my story after the test and she said it would have made a wonderful children's book. And I agree with her.

And the reason I thought of this creation myth again is because I thought of a new story. This time about Gaia (the earth) and how she is dying and in order to try and live, she is trying to destroy the 'diseases' that are killing her -- humans.

So... all you people that think my idea is pretty cool -- These book concepts are copyright Erica Van Uitregt.

Lately work has been going pretty good for me. Usually I have difficulty getting things done because of my shyness, but lately its all been good. I've been talking to my work mates and using the phone more than email, huge steps forward for my self esteem.

At home its a totally different story. I miss Ali :( Ever since she left I feel very alone being the only girl here now. Even when the attachments (other girls) of the house mates come over I don't feel much better -- Alisa's good, but I don't really have anything in common with Stina. The boys seem to be acting slightly differently as well, I feel ganged up on when there's an argument. Its going to get a lot more difficult without strong minded Ali around. I think she's been indirectly protecting me all this time.

I just hope it gets better when Misty moves in.

At the moment no ones home really cause they've gone out to get dinner. Not even Joel is here :(

I went to Ali's earlier for dinner and she made a kick-ass beef stir-fry. Very yummy. She drove me home afterward. Trying to open the door didn't work cause Crowy locked the top lock which is impossible to open with the keys provided. Crowy is the only one that doesn't seem to have trouble. Every time I try to open that lock I feel as if I'll break the key! Oh well.

That's all from me.

~Erica~

This is my first post into my LiveJournal!

I helped Ali move here stuff over to the new place today. We moved her bigger furniture (bookcases, filing cabinet) out to the reading room and disasembled her bed and desk to make it easier to move. The guys from minimovers were gorgeous! They had to be Brazilian guys, both slim with losts of muscles, really friendly too! All in all it took about 20 minutes to load all of Ali's stuff into the truck then we went to her new place and unloaded everything in about half an hour. That brought to the entire billable time of 2 1/4 hours. Not bad if I do say so myself!

We went out for lunch afterward as everyone who helped moving (Joel, Steve, me and Ali -- Elsie was there too but she was unable to help because she hurt her wrist at gym this week) were starving. Ali then took Joel and I home and I lazed around for some hours because of lack of energy.

I got bored later so I vacuumed Ali's old room and cleaned off the window sill and wall. I took down the curtains too and washed the lining fabric -- will hang them back in the room tomorrow. I hope Ali appreciates it!

Last night I did her up an exit statement from the house account showing what she has owing -- it was a good exercise for me -- now the finances are ready for when the new chick moves in. I'm curious to find out what sort of person she is -- mainly its only to see if she'll be able to handle the wrong conversations at dinner and the general responsibilities of cooking and cleaning.

~fire_e~
